East Africa Tour – 19 days - Day by Day

UGANDA SECTION – CHIMPS & GORILLAS 7Nights/8Days

Day 1 - Arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be met by your guide who will transfer you to the hotel where you will be staying for the night BB. Optional activities can be organized for you, if you arrive early in the morning or during the day, otherwise relax at the hotel and you can go an evening walk through the town and trading centre. 

Day 2 - Depart for Queen Elizabeth NP, the drive here is about 5 hours you arrive in time for lunch and after lunch you may for the afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, you will not miss the hippos, and the enormous birdlife, which includes Albertine Rift endemics and many migrants. A late evening game drive if time allows. Overnight at either Mweya Safari lodge or Park Hostel FB. 

Day 3 - While at QENP, you will go on a game drive; with an opportunity to view Lions, Buffaloes, most of the antelopes, Elephants and the rare giant forest hog & many more. You will also have a chance to visit the old age bat caves & the historical crater lakes. Return to the lodge/Hostel for the night FB. 

Day 4 - After a leisurely morning you will depart for Bwindi National park, where you will arrive after about 4hours, here you will stay overnight at Buhoma Lodge or the Bwindi Community Bandas FB. 

Day 5 - Trek gorillas, an early breakfast after which you proceed to the park offices for a briefing, and then continue on for the trek. We advise you bring with hiking shoes, long pants and long sleeved shirts for the trek. The lodge provides water and a packed lunch for the trekking. The trek normally takes a minimum of 3hours to a maximum of about 8-9hours, depending on the duration of the trek, you may go for a community walk for the rest of the today, and you will overnight as above. 

Day 6 - Depart for Lake Bunyonyi this morning arriving in time for lunch at the camp, after lunch you will go on the boat ride return to the camp for dinner and overnight. 

Day 7 - Depart for Jinja via the famous Mabira forest that stretch for about 7kms, visit the source of the Longest river in Africa, river Nile, and also the famous Bujjagali Falls, known for its historical tales. Stay for the night in Jinja at a hotel/guest house plus dinner. 

4days/3Nights – NAKURU/ MASAI MARA  

Day 8 - Transferred to Kenya via the Malaba border, and you will be meet and transferred to Masai Mara, (Border crossing formalities are necessary i.e filling in forms & visa payments) Continue to Nakuru area where you will stay for the night at a hotel FB. 

Day 9 - Today our safari expedition will take us to the jewel of Kenya’s parks, the world famous Masai Mara Game (Wildlife) Reserve.  This is Kenya’s number one park and is always on every tourist’s “Must see list”. Full of life with various types of animals and birds, Masai Mara crown’s the climax of every safari in Kenya. Its rolling grasslands and acacia savannah have time and again been captured on film with the movie “Out Of Africa” being the most famous.  Masai Mara is home to the “Big Five” (Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard and Rhino) and over 450 bird species.  Apart from the big five, the Masai Mara is most famous for the spectacular annual migration of over a million wildebeest, zebra, gazelle etc from the Serengeti in northern Tanzania crossing the Mara River into Kenya in search of fresh feeding grounds, which takes place in late July or August.  During this crossing, hundreds of animals are swept away by the first moving Mara River and others are killed by the ferocious African Crocodiles.  This crossing gives true meaning to the phrase “Survival of the fittest”. 

Lunch to be served at the luxurious at a lodge/camp set in the African bush, on an elevation between two streams, the camp is a combination of luxury and adventure.  After lunch you can take time out to read a book, novel, sunbathe, take a refreshing dip in the pool, or simply sit back and relax under the tent.  All luxurious tents have permanent roofs, electricity, and en-suite bathroom facilities. The grounds are beautifully laid out with trees and flowers inhabited by a collection of exotic birds and butterflies. 

In the afternoon head out with your driver guide in search of the shy and elusive leopard, other wild animals and over 450 species of birds of which 57 species are birds of prey. As the sunset starts to edge dip into the African horizon it will be the perfect opportunity for you to capture the beautiful Mara landscape on film. After dinner, enjoy the warmth of the roaring log fire before going to bed under the star filled African sky. Dinner and overnight at, a lodge/camp FB. 

Day 10 - We start the day off with an early morning game drive before dawn, followed by breakfast upon your return to the camp.  After breakfast you can go swimming in the pool under the African sun or just sit back and relax for the rest of the day. In the afternoon we return to the bush in search of wildlife, such as Thomson’s and Grant’s Gazelle, elephants, lions, and the solitary and ill-tempered Rhino, among others All meals and overnight at a lodge/camp FB. 

MASAI MARA – TANZANIA (8Nights/9Days) 

Day 11 - Soon after breakfast, (with a game drive en-route), you will be transferred to the border to cross over to Tanzania – (Border crossing formalities are necessary i.e filling in forms & visa payments) Continue to Arusha town where you will stay for the night at a hotel FB. 

Day 12 - Depart for Serengeti National Park today; this is the largest park in Tanzania, with the largest number of animals. The annual migration usually lead by wildebeests which takes place for a period of 2 months takes off from the central plains heading westwards and northwards in search of water. Alongside this search are also predators and scavengers like hyenas and vultures. The birdlife comprises of about 400 species. Overnight at lodge/camp FB. 

Day 13 - Enjoy and tour more of Serengeti park and you will overnight as above. 

Day 14 - Depart for Ngorongoro, and here you will have the opportunity to see the THROAT OF ONDUVAY, this gorge is located within the Ngorongoro conservation area. It was discovered as the origin of human evolution. Overnight at Lodge/Camp FB. 

Day 15 - Today you will visit the Ngorongoro Crater; which is popularly known as the “eight wonder of the world” covers an area of 259sq.km with 610mtrs high walls making it the largest intact crater in the world. Overnight at a lodge/camp FB. 

Day 16 - A visit to Lake Eyasi and Lake Manyara National park which is well known for its abundant birdlife and the tree climbing lions which spend hours on the branches of the acacia trees from 3 to 7mtrs off the ground. You will also get to know and learn about the native Masai living in this area. Overnight at a lodge/camp FB.

Day 17 - Travel to Moshi town, which is situated at the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro, while here you will take a walk in the town and visit the local markets, and you will enjoy the scenery of the beautiful forests, water falls, snow capped peaks of the highest mountain in Africa. Overnight at a hotel FB. 

Day 18 - A day’s excursion on Mt Kilimanjaro, after which you will return to the hotel for the overnight BB. 

Day 19 - Transfer to the airport in time for your departure flight.
