Uganda and Rwanda Safari – 20 days - Day by Day

Day 1: Upon your arrival at Entebbe International airport you will be met by your guide and transferred to a hotel in Entebbe for overnight BB. Optional activities in Entebbe include a boat trip to the Chimp Island Sanctuary, a walk through the Botanical gardens and visiting the Uganda Wildlife Education centre, all of which give you different experiences.

Day 2: After breakfast you will drive to Jinja site seeing en route , have lunch and visit of Source of Nile and Bujagali falls, overnight at a hotel plus dinner. More optional activities in Jinja – horse riding, quad biking, white water rafting and much more as you may please.

Day 3: An early departure to Murchison National park, a lunch stop after which you will visit the top of the falls; here the Nile waters fall down through a narrow gap, creating a magnificent view of the falls from the top. Proceed on, for the overnight at a lodge/camp FB

Day 4: The early game drive at Murchison falls park, is famous for the big mammals, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions and more, the birdlife is amazing for both keen birders and normal tourists.
After lunch you will go on the Nile cruise to the bottom of the falls, cruising past hippos, crocodiles and more birds. The view of the falls from the bottom is breathing taking, one you will never forget in a lifetime. You will stay at the lodge/camp for the night FB

Day 5: Today you will travel to Fort Portal town, through the villages and beautiful scenery. You will have a picnic lunch and since this is a long drive you will arrive late afternoon. Relax for the rest of the evening, dinner and overnight a hotel/camp

Day 6: An early Chimpanzee trek at Kibale forest, Kibale national is a habitat for more than 10 primate species, which include, black & white colobus monkeys, red colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys among the many. After lunch you then go on for a swamp walk, where you will see lots of birds and through the historical places in this area. Return to the hotel for the night plus dinner.

Day 7: A half day’s excursion to the Rwenzori Mountains, going up the mountain up to at least 2500 ft above sea level. The mountain described by the early explorers as the “Mountains of the Moon” Overnight in Kasese town at a hotel plus dinner,

Day 8: After breakfast you will continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park, have lunch at, then go on the afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel – on the cruise you will see hippos, at the same time also other animals drinking water. This channel is known for an enormous birdlife, not found anywhere else in the country, overnight at lodge/camp FB

Day 9: Early in the morning game drives, the big five can be seen through the drive; the crater lakes formed over the years and the salt lake – Lake Katwe; see how salt is collected. For the rest of the afternoon you may relax lodge, swim or go for an optional walk.

Day 10: Today you will depart for Bwindi, through the southern section of the park, here you may see the famous tree climbing lions as the rest up in the large forest trees. You will have lunch and then go for a community walk through the near by villages. Overnight at a lodge/camp FB

Day 11: An optional gorilla trek today;(for the gorilla trek you need to confirm at time of booking) otherwise you will go on a guided forest walk through the huge forest, this thick forest has lots to offer, from birds, streams, vegetation and the landscape. Return to the lodge/camp for overnight FB

Day 12: You travel to Rwanda/Ruhengeri today, as you go through the western part of the country you will view, the cultivated hillsides and valleys. A lunch stop en route, and you will continue to Rwanda, border formalities are necessary and overnight at a lodge/hotel FB

Day 13 -14: During these two in Ruhengeri, you will visit of Ruhondo lake, go for community walks to learn from and get involved the local people, get to hear about genocide, and an optional golden monkey trek. An optional gorilla trek can be arranged(confirm at time of booking).You will overnight at a lodge/camp FB

Day 15: From Ruhengeri you will depart to Gisenyi through the highlands some of which are beautifully covered with the tea plantations, with opportunities to take pictures. Overnight at a beach hotel with a view of Lake Kivu.

Day 16: From Gisenyi you will depart by boat across to Kibuye, via the bat island and then on to your landing site at Kibuye from where you will be transferred to your hotel. After lunch you may go site seeing or just relax at the hotel for the rest of the afternoon; overnight at the hotel FB

Day 17: Depart for Nyugwe forest this morning, when there you will go on the primate walk. Nyungwe forest is well known for the various primates, which include the handsome L’hoest’s monkey and hundred-strong troops of the acrobatic Angola colobus. The birdlife in the forest adds value to the walk, as the birds here are restricted to the montane forests. Overnight at hotel FB

Day 18: On your way to Akagera National park; you will visit the museum – learn about the history of Rwanda with so much on display from the ancestors of this country. The Old Kings’ palace that still stands long after the kingdom reign was ended gives you as insight of the lives of the early peoples of Rwanda. After lunch you will continue to the park and stay for the night at a lodge/camp FB.

Day 19: This morning you will be viewing game, on the game drive from which you will be able to view buffaloes, zebras, oribi and cape elands among the many. This park is different from the rest of Rwanda, for the African Savannah landscape with open landscape. Overnight at the lodge/camp FB.

Day 20: Today you will drive back to Kigali, depending on your flight you may go for a city tour or will be transferred to the airport for transfer out.
