BWINDI IMPENETRABLE & MGAHINGA GORILLA NATIONAL PARKS

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwestern Uganda and covers 331Sq Km. It lies at the edge of the great western Rift valley, and is part of the highest block of Kigezi or Rukiga Highlands. Bwindi lies next to Congo border, about 29km by the north west of Kabale. The forest is a home to almost half of the endangered mountain gorillas, and is a habitat to 90 mammal species including11 primates. Forest birding ranks amongst the best in the country with 24 Albertine rift endemics such as African Green Broadbill, Shelley’s Crimsonwing, short tailed and Grauers Rush warblers.  It is in Bwindi forest where the two great apes (Gorilla + chimpanzee) can be found.

Activities.
These include Gorilla tracking, Community and Forest walks.
Birding is another big adventure in the area with 357-recorded species.

Accommodation
Gorilla Forest Camp
This is a luxury tented camp, with eight large tents each with  en-suite facilities and a separate bathroom with an amazing experience of a bathtub looking out onto the forest. The tents are exceptionally spacious inside with two queen beds, and have large wooden decks for relaxing and dinning privately.
The main building over looks the forest and consist of the bar and an open-air dinning on a raised platform.

Buhoma Lodge
Eight, comfortable cottages have been carefully built, each with its own private verandah, allowing wonderful views of the forest canopy of the National Park. Inside the specious cottages you will find comfortable beds, a well appointed en suite bathroom with flushing toilet and a hot shower and also some rooms with bath tubs. An elevated lounge area, complete with bar and dining facilities, offers a cosy, comfortable environment, to discuss the day’s activities around the fireplaces which add atmosphere and warmth in the cool evenings.

Engagi Lodge
Recently up graded from a tented camp to a lodge, which consists of just 8 en-suite cottages, a bathroom with flushing toilets and hot water. The cottages are equipped with double or twin beds respectively. A private veranda for each cottage, where guests can be served a drink/cup of tea/coffee while enjoying the forest views.

Silverback Lodge
Located at a hill overlooking the Bwindi forests, the lodge has got seven rooms built next to each other that are designed using local materials, such as the forest vines, sisal rope and purple slate stone. Each room has an ensuite bathroom (with hot water showers) and comfortable chairs on the veranda for viewing the forest and clouds that drift by in the valley. A well stocked bar and dinning with chefs who prepare and serve both local and international cuisines

Camping/Budget facilties
The camp consists of both Bandas and tents and dormitories. The bandas have been upgraded and are en-suite with hot water. Meals & drinks are served in the dinning room.These include; Bwindi View Bandas and Gorilla Nest Campsite & Buhoma Community Restcamp which is located close to the park offices

Hotels and Guesthouses
Travellers Rest, Kisoro Tourist hotel, are budget and provide en-suite facilities, meals and drinks are available.

The trip information, itinerary and handling our booking was perfect. The trip was amazing. Nyungwe and boat trip at Lake Bunyonyi visiting the Batwa was very superb and everything was of interest (I will never forget that experience because everything was an adventure to me). About the food, services and accommodation ranged from very good and excellent .Our driver Davis was an excellent driver and tour leader.
