Mountain Gorillas are sacred specie of primates that Uganda is lucky to have as part of our wildlife. These gorillas are found in the east African region, southwest of Uganda, Rwanda and DRC.
In Uganda gorillas now live in various families in Bwindi national park and Mgahinga national park, and among the families are named as groups which include Mubale group, Habinyanja group the very first two groups to be habituated and viewed by the public and tourists for a number of years. Then other groups were habituated to make up the 12 gorilla families today that can be viewed by the visitors to Bwindi national park. An opportunity to go on a gorilla trek, through the thick Bwindi forest is a life time experience.
In addition to the gorillas, Uganda has got various wildlife both animals and primates found in her national parks. The national parks have various attractions mostly historical that add to the experience of the trips/tours for those who visit the various parks. Murchison falls national park and Queen Elizabeth national park are the largest, and among the others are Lake Mburo, Kibale, Kidepo and Semliki national parks.
